Odubel Herrera stayed hot for the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday by hitting a home run for a fourth game in a row.

When seeing where this team was a year ago, it was amazing to see the Philadelphia Phillies earn the 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday to secure their 39th win of the 2018 season.

Even more exciting for the young Phillies, Odubel Herrera remained hot with his bat in the series finale against the Cardinals, and ended up being the difference maker with his solo home run in the seventh inning since that would go on to be the deciding run.

In fact, this not only marked the fourth-straight game in which Herrera crushed one out of the ballpark, but Herrera now has five home runs over his last six games.

When considering the outfielder previously had just seven homers before this impressive stretch, it shows just how important Herrera has been as of late, and Philadelphia would love nothing more than to see him continue to stay hot.

As Phillies fans know, the bats haven’t exactly been consistent for the most part during the 2018 season, and any time they can see a player like Herrerra heat up like he has as of late, it’s a huge positive.

Continuing to hit home runs at this rate is a lot easier said than done, but even if Herrera provides the necessary production to help Philadelphia win games, that’s what really matters the most.

For a team that was originally expected to go through another year of rebuilding while adjusting to Gabe Kapler‘s management style, seeing the Phillies currently in the race for the NL East title has truly been amazing to witness.

Philadelphia may be trailing the Atlanta Braves by 3.5 games at the moment for first place in the division, but luckily there’s still plenty of baseball left to be played.

Just the thought of the Phillies having a shot at the playoffs when considering how long it’s been provides the team and the fan base with all sorts of excitement, especially if players like Herrera continue to step up when needed the most.

In fact, with four more home runs, Herrera will officially set a new career high with more than three months to go, meaning there’s a good chance he’s going to shatter his previous mark.
