Thanks to another strong outing at home on Tuesday, Aaron Nola continues to come up big for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Heading into the 2018 season, expectations were high for Aaron Nola as a key member of the Philadelphia Phillies pitching rotation, but it’s safe to say that nobody expected to him to make the kind of impact the team has seen so far.

Despite a poor first couple of outings to start the season that consisted of being pulled too early on Opening Day along with a lack of run support from his teammates, Nola deserves plenty of credit for the way he’s turned things around since the beginning of the year.

In fact, when looking at the performance Nola put together on Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies, this was just another example of how great of a season the 25-year-old is having, especially at home.

Even if the bullpen gave the team a little bit of a scare in the ninth inning by allowing three runs, the Phillies were still able to hang on for the 5-4 victory over the Rockies to reward Nola with his eighth win of the season. In 6.2 innings of work, Nola only allowed one earned run while striking out 10 batters in the process.

If that doesn’t seem impressive enough, just take a look at how much of an impact Nola has made dating back to last season when playing in front of the home crowd at Citizens Bank Park.

As mentioned before, Philadelphia had plenty of reasons to have high expectations for Nola heading into 2018, but it’s safe to say they didn’t expect the results to be this amazing.

There’s still plenty of baseball remaining in the regular season, but if Nola continues to play at this high level for the Phillies, he could even find his name in the conversation for the Cy Young Award when the time comes.

Most importantly, Philadelphia is actually considered to be a contender in the National League for the first time in what seems like forever, as they currently trail the Atlanta Braves by three games in the NL East at the moment. And while the Phillies have seen major contributions from plenty of other players over the last few months, chances are they wouldn’t be in this kind of position if i wasn’t for Nola’s dominance this season.
