With the fate of the franchise still up in the air, the Philadelphia 76ers worked out divisive Duke guard Grayson Allen, with Colangelo in attendance.

While the Philadelphia 76ers are still firmly entrenched in the controversy now affectionately known as Woodergate, the organization still has to prepare for the forthcoming NBA Draft and according to a tweet from Philly Inquirer‘s Keith Pompey they did so on Wednesday, June sixth by working out former Duke guard Grayson Allen.

Oh yeah, and guess who was in attendance? None other than embattled general manager Bryan Colangelo.

What a controversial day.

More from Philadelphia 76ers

While the decision to bring Allen, a fringe first-round pick, in for a workout alone would have surely drawn the ire of plenty of fans, as his propensity for petty physical altercations with opposing players(tripping) effectively overshadowed his fairly solid career at Duke, doing so with Colangelo in attendance leaves far more questions than answers.

Does this mean Colangelo is sticking around after all? Is this the Sixers simply maintaining the status quo while they continue to sift through hours of testimony to make a decision on his future? Could this saga ultimately bleed into the team’s draft decision making process?

Ugh, this offseason just keeps getting worse.

After being one of the surprises feel good stories of the 2017-2018 NBA season, basically doubling their win from the previous seaosn thanks to the supurb play of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid in rout to their first playoff appearance in half a decade, the Sixers’ suprisingly slow process of vetting Colangelo, when coupled with bringing in a notorious villian like Allen is really starting to test the good will the team has procurred over the last year, and could very well prevent top-tier free agents like LeBron James, Paul George, and Chris Paul from even considering the team in free agency.

I mean, who want’s to play for a GM who’s allegedly loose with private information that could blacklist players he deems aren’t performing up to his lofty standards?

Though Colangelo’s presence at Allen’s workout could ultimately mean nothing, as he is still the team’s GM, it is worth wondering if this appearance is a sign of where the Sixers are leaning as far as his future is concerned.
