Philadelphia Eagles: Dallas Goedert should be considered NFL Draft target
By Dan Parzych
With Trey Burton and Brent Celek out of the picture, the Philadelphia Eagles should strongly consider the possibility of Dallas Goedert in the 2018 NFL Draft.
As crazy as it is to believe, the Philadelphia Eagles are officially less than a month away from the 2018 NFL Draft with plenty of areas worth consideration of improving in the first round. From adding depth to the offensive line or addressing a need at linebacker, the Eagles will hopefully have plenty of great options at No. 32, but also the possibility of adding a tight end like Dallas Goedert shouldn’t be ruled out either.
The South Dakota State star has seen his stock on the rise over the last couple of weeks as one of the top pass-catching tight ends from this year’s draft class, and even though the position isn’t a major need for the Super Bowl champions, the addition of someone like Goedert to play alongside Zach Ertz could work wonders. There are plenty of teams across the NFL that benefit from having two reliable tight ends to work with in the passing game, and with Ertz already being one of the best at what he does, Goedert would only make the receiving corps that much stronger.
His route-running may need some work, but when seeing the 164 catches for 2,404 yards to go along with 18 touchdowns he recorded over the previous two years with the Jackrabbits, it’s easy to understand why Goedert has been drawing consideration to be a potential first-round pick from teams looking to bring on an effective tight end. And if he were to happen to still be available with the final pick in the first round, there’s no question Philadelphia should strongly consider bringing him on board to add to what will already be an offense loaded with talent.

If the Eagles showed anything last year during their amazing Super Bowl run, it would be they will never worry about having too many players at a position, as they will always figure out a way to make it work, kind of like they did in the running back department. Without question, Ertz will always see a majority of the action as the team’s No. 1 pass-catching tight end, but if Goedert were to be thrown into the picture through the NFL Draft, just imagine the numbers surrounding this potential duo.
