Cornerback. Minnesota Vikings. Terence Newman. 3. player. 60.

Terence Newman entered the NFL way back in 2003 as an early first-round pick out of Kansas State and has compiled a career of consistency and two-time Pro Bowls. Newman is now considered one of the games wily veterans and has been a defensive technician the last couple years playing for the Minnesota Vikings in the slot.  Newman should garner a one-year contract in the $4 million dollar range this offseason and could be a perfect veteran replacement for Patrick Robinson and Corey Graham, whom the Eagles will be without in 2018.

How he fits with the Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles secondary is currently stocked with a plethora of young, immensely talented players, adding a versatile veteran player like Newman could pay serious dividends going into 2018. Newman could fill a similar role in the Eagles defense to that of Patrick Robinson and Corey Graham did last year, smart veterans that will be asked to play in key situations while keeping the unit fresh for another Super Bowl run. With Jalen Mills, Sidney Jones, and Ronald Darby likely manning the team’s three starting cornerback position as of right now, this could leave Newman to come in on obvious passing downs as a dime defender and also gives defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz a savvy veteran who can play safety, nickel corner and on the outside. While Newman will be fielding calls from many playoff-bound teams this offseason, if the Eagles are serious about contending for another Super Bowl run in 2018, the Birds may give Newman his best shot to finally earn his first ring.
