Detroit Lions. Eric Ebron. 2. player. 50. . Tight End

Eric Ebron, the former top 10 pick out of the University of North Carolina, never really lived up to his potential after being labeled as one of the most athletic players in the 2014 NFL draft. Ebron routinely showed flashes of his athletic ability over four seasons as a member of the Detroit Lions, but never put together a serious stretch of games to really make any eye-popping numbers. After being rumored in potential trades for seems to be years, the Lions finally let Ebron walk and at 24, teams will be lining up to sign him based on upside alone. Ebron averaged close to 47 catches and 518 yards a season in Detroit and could be a perfect addition to an Eagles team who lost Trey Burton and wide receiver Torrey Smith over the last few weeks.

How he fits with the Philadelphia Eagles

It remains to be seen if Ebron will sign a contract in the $5-8 million a year range this offseason, but if he is willing to bet on himself with a prove it deal, the Eagles should get into the mix.

Ebron could immediately take over the number two tight end spot on Doug Pederson’s depth chart, could be a perfect partner for Zach Ertz. Signing Ebron would also give Carson Wentz yet another big-bodied playmaker in the red-zone who could be flexed out wide if need be.

As things presently stand, Ertz is the only tight end under contract that has any real NFL experience with the Eagles obviously wanting to add at least two more going into the 2018 season. If the Eagles are serious about adding a premier upside pickup to their offense, then they should strongly consider offering Ebron a deal.
