With the free agency madness already underway, the Philadelphia Eagles made a key move in signing Nigel Bradham to a five-year deal.

To say the Philadelphia Eagles have been busy this offseason would be quite the understatement when looking at all of the salary cap space Howie Roseman and company have been forced to clear up, which unfortunately was one of the reasons why Brent Celek was let go on Tuesday. But as frustrating as some of these key departures have been for fans to witness, the important factor is the Eagles were able to win the Super Bowl in February because of these guys, and nothing can ever take that away.

With that being said, another reason why Philadelphia has been so busy with these moves to make salary cap room was so they would be in better position to sign current players to new deals, which is where Nigel Bradham comes into play. After seeing how amazing of a job Bradham did last season filling in when Jordan Hicks went down for the year, the Eagles realized the importance of making sure the linebacker would be around again for the 2018 season with a new deal to make him happy.

Turns out, Philadelphia was able to agree on a deal with Bradham before the official start of free agency got underway on Wednesday afternoon, which is huge. After the news broke Wednesday morning that Bradham had agreed to a five-year, $40 million deal with the Eagles, it’s safe to say he’s going to be worth every penny the organization is paying him.

Bringing Bradham on two years ago after the linebacker spent the first four years of his career as a member of the Buffalo Bills turned out to be an amazing decision for the Eagles, and seeing that he’s going to continue being part of this elite defense for years to come is a huge relief. The linebacker position was one of the biggest questions surrounding the champions entering the offseason, and at least with this deal for Bradham, it gives Philadelphia a little cushion for the next couple of weeks. As for what to expect with the rest of free agency, knowing Roseman, this is just the beginning of numerous moves the Eagles will most likely make.
