If the Seattle Seahawks do in fact part ways with Richard Sherman, should the Philadelphia Eagles consider the veteran cornerback?

As the Philadelphia Eagles continue to stay busy in the offseason after recently wrapping up the NFL Combine, up next for the Super Bowl champions is the start of next week’s free agency period, which will have a lot of great talent to choose from. Even after pulling off their epic Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots, Doug Pederson knew the Eagles would have plenty of work on their plate this offseason in order to give the team a better chance of repeating in 2018, and even though nothing is set in stone at the moment, the one player to keep an eye on moving forward at cornerback is Richard Sherman.

With all of the uncertainty surrounding the cornerback position since there has been talk about Philadelphia dealing one of their current guys along with the chance of Patrick Robinson ending up elsewhere, Sherman could very well become an option for Jim Schwartz‘s defense if the Seattle Seahawks do end up releasing the former Stanford star as expected. Despite spending all seven seasons of his NFL career with the team along with playing a major role in the rise of the Legion of Boom many years ago, the team seems to be taking a younger approach on the defensive side of the football after taking a major step back in 2017, which was one of a few reasons why they failed to earn a spot in the playoffs.

In fact, Seattle actually agreed to trade three-time Pro Bowler Michael Bennett to the Eagles on Wednesday, making it seem even more likely that Sherman could be on his way out as well since nobody seems safe. And while there may be some concern over Sherman’s ruptured Achilles tendon from last November, let’s not forget that it was reported last month that he seems to be ahead of schedule in his recovery process.

Some Philadelphia fans may be against the idea of Sherman joining a team like the Eagles due to his trash talking or even the fact that his career seemed to be on the decline. But at the right price, Sherman seems to still have a little gas left in the old tank, and seems determined more than ever to bounce back after last year’s disappointing finish as a result of his finish.

Plus, it’s safe to say Sherman would love to join his soon-to-be former teammate in Bennett on a team that is already considered one of the top favorites to win next year’s Super Bowl. The Eagles may have some competition with other teams if they were to express interest in Sherman, but all things considered, the risk seems rewarding for the Super Bowl champions.
