Philadelphia Eagles only Post-Combine mock draft
Shaun Dion Hamilton is another player with some injury concerns who could fall much further down draft boards than many initially expected.
Whenever a team is able to draft a key defensive piece from a college championship winning program, there’s a good shot he can make plays. Hamilton’s play was never in question, just his ability to stay on the field to make them.
Hamilton was one of the Crimson Tides most consistent players when on the field, keywords being “on the field”. A knee fracture cost him most of this last season and a late season ACL tear cut his 2016 season short as well, so there is real concern whether or not he can hold up at the next level. But if he can, Hamilton could quickly move up through the Eagles linebacker depth chart because of a combination of leadership, smarts, and physicality.
The Eagles would be wise to invest one of their two fourth-round picks in a linebacker because the health of Jordan Hicks is up in the air and free agent Nigel Bradham may not return, so drafting depth is necessary. If Hamilton can stay on the field, he has the ability to become a key member of the linebacker group.
