After playing the entire 2017 season with a torn rotator cuff Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery finally has surgery on the injury.

If there’s one player on the Philadelphia Eagles roster who truly represents what it means to be Philly tough it’s Alshon Jeffery.

While Jeffrey has always been known for his aggressive playing style and willingness to go up for 50-50 balls, no one knew just how passionate he was for the game of football until news broke that he played the entire 2017 NFL season hurt after tearing his rotator cuff in training camp, and just now had surgery to repair the injury.

Yeah, you read that correctly.

Now many, including here at Section 215 have lauded the Eagles for their unselfishness and team-first mentality, but this simply takes things to a whole nother level. I mean sure, one could argue that Jeffery may have wanted to play to secure himself a new contract after signing a one-year, prove it deal in free agency, but from the very first day he arrived in Philly Jeffery made it clear that he wanted to win, and felt like Philly gave him the best chance to win a Super Bowl. A premonition that ultimately came true.

Though Jeffery’s 789 receiving yards in 2017 were the lowest total of his career since his rookie season in 2012, and atypical for a true number one receiver, the fact that he caught 57 catches and nine touchdowns with a torn rotator cuff is pretty incredible and truly inspiring. While no one would have faulted Jeffery for simply getting surgery and living to fight another day, the fact that he fought through injury and came out with a Super Bowl ring shows some serious heart.

Now the owner of a 4-year, $52 million deal, Jeffery is going to be in the City of Brotherly Love for a long time, and could just be scratching his potential. With a full offseason to get healthy, the Eagles could finally get a full strength Jeffery in 2018, a player we’ve yet to see in South Philly. If Jeffery finished the 2017 season with almost 800 yards injured, just think what can he do healthy?
