Villanova Wildcats rightfully earn a No. 1 seed in latest bracket projections
By Dan Parzych
If all goes well over the next month, the Villanova Wildcats should be able to earn one of the top seeds in the bracket.
March Madness is always one of the most exciting times of the year for sports fans, and when it comes to the Villanova Wildcats, Jay Wright‘s team hopes to earn their second national title in three years, which could very well end up happening when looking at how great this season has been. With only two losses heading into Wednesday’s game against Providence, the Wildcats certainly have the talent to make another thanks to having key players like Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo, but as everyone knows, that’s always easier said than done.
Assuming Villanova continues to play at this high level from now until Selection Sunday, there’s every reason to believe this team will end up earning one of the four No. 1 seeds in this year’s bracket. In fact, the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee decided to release their top 16 teams at the moment on Sunday, and as expected, the Wildcats were fortunate enough to earn one of the top seeds at the moment, along with Virginia, Xavier, and Purdue.
Of course, a lot could change over the next month to shakeup the committee’s opinion on the top 16, but even if they drop to a No. 2 or No. 3 seed when Selection Sunday arrives, Villanova is going to be a popular selection to go all of the way in brackets across the country. The Wildcats may have been eliminated earlier than expected last year as a No. 1 seed after losing to No. 8 Wisconsin in the second round, but also keep in mind the team was dealing with the pressure of being the defending champions at the time, which is never an easy feeling to handle.

Either way, Villanova has plenty of reasons to feel confident about their chances to make a deep run come March since the last few months have proven that Wright has a special team. And if the Wildcats can earn another win over Xavier later this week for the second time this season, it will only increase Villanova’s chances of locking up one of those No. 1 seeds when the time comes next month.
