Philadelphia Eagles: Philly fans, this is your moment
For the first time in the modern-era, the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions, and no one can take this moment away.
The Philadelphia Eagles‘ moment is here.
When I began my position at Section 215 in October, I never would have dreamed that I’d be writing about a playoff team, let alone the team who finally delivered the City of Brotherly Love their first Championship since 1960. But here we are, February fourth, the end of an era, and the inception of a whole new world for Philadelphia sports.
No longer can Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins or New York Giants fans hold our city’s lack of championships over our head, and for the first time in 58 years, the Eagles are national champions.
And the Eagles did it the Philly way.

Regardless of the adversity this team faced, whether it be from pundits discrediting Doug Pederson‘s credentials, owner Jeffrey Lurie‘s own admission that the team was still years away from contention, or the seemingly endless string of injuries the team faced at every critical junction of the season, our team took their lumps but never wavered in their relentless pursuit of the Lombardi Trophy.
Much like the man immortalized on the Art Museum’s steps, our scrappy collection of underdogs and castoffs banded together under their second-year head coach and took down arguably the best coach-quarterback duo in NFL history by a score of 41-33.
And that’s all that matters.
With virtually everyone counting our team, and our entire city out, the Eagles made it clear that they collectively were done being the butt of the NFL’s joke and stole the Lombardi Trophy away from a 4.5 point favorite.
Philadelphia is a sports town, and tonight Broad Street bleeds green. For every lifelong fan, young and old, this is for you, and that moment can’t be taken away. Our Eagles rolled up their collective sleeves, put their shoulders to the wheel and ground out a victory in Minneapolis in front of the entire world.

Through this team’s hard work, the people of Philadelphia have become champions, and that’s forever. While only time will tell if this is the beginning of a dynasty in South Philly or just the stars aligning for one Cinderella season, 2017 was our season, and this is our championship.
