With John Wall being ruled out of the All-Star Game, could the Philadelphia 76ers send another star to Los Angeles in Ben Simmons as a result?

After years of rebuilding, the Philadelphia 76ers finally made the leap to being serious contenders in the Eastern Conference this season, with two key players in Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid being healthy playing a big reason as to why. Watching these two youngsters make the impacts they have this season has finally given Sixers fans a reason to be excited again, and what’s even better is those same fans will get to cheer on Embiid during the 2018 NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles.

In fact, nobody was surprised to see Embiid named a starter when looking at how dominant he’s been at times this season, let alone how popular he’s been to fans outside of Philadelphia thanks to his fun trash talking. As for Simmons, the former No. 1 pick was originally expected to be named an All-Star, but unfortunately he ended up being one of the biggest snubs from this year.

With that being said, many wonder if Simmons will end up earning a trip to the All-Star Game now with the recent news surrounding John Wall, who is undergoing a knee procedure that will keep sidelined for possibly two months. And as NBC Sports Philadelphia pointed out on Tuesday, as a result to Wall’s injury, Simmons could end up with a trip to Los Angeles to participate in the All-Star Game after all, depending on who Adam Silver decides on going with.

Not only would it be cool to see Simmons team up with LeBron James on his team since the two have a history of working out together, but also the Sixers superstar would get to have a little extra fun playing against his beloved teammate in Embiid. From an entertaining perspective, it’s tough to imagine Silver passing on someone like Simmons went looking at the numbers he’s been putting together during his rookie season (16.6 points per game to go along with 7.9 rebounds and 7.3 assists). But also, there are a handful of other players worthy of earning the all of a sudden open spot as a result of the Wall injury, so it will be interesting to see if Simmons does in fact earn the honors.
