Watch this amazing dunk Joel Embiid put on Russell Westbrook during Sunday’s game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Based off the first meeting that ended up being triple overtime, there was plenty of excitement over Sunday’s game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Oklahoma City Thunder, especially when seeing all of the superstars that would be on the court at the same time. Between Joel Embiid continuing to grow as one of the league’s top centers along with Russell Westbrook always being capable of posting a triple-double, it’s easy to understand why basketball fans in general couldn’t wait to see what was in store for this battle.

In fact, it was Westbrook (27 points to go along with 17 rebounds, and 15 assists) and Embiid (34 points to go along with eight rebounds, and six assists) that led the way for their respected teams, although it was Oklahoma City that ended up on the winning end back in the middle of December. This time around, however, it’s safe to say Embiid was looking for revenge against the Thunder, as the Sixers superstar let Westbrook know early on.

Just a few minutes into the game, Embiid threw down a vicious slam on Westbrook that may go down as one of the top dunks of the week, if not the entire month of January. Take a look at the video below, and see why social media was freaking out over the epic throw down put together by the former Kansas star.

Without question, Westbrook is as tough and athletic as they come in the NBA, but trying to stop a dunk like this from Embiid was even too much for the guard to handle. And while Westbrook deserves credit for trying to make the big play for Oklahoma City by taking the charge, Embiid looked like a man on a mission when it comes to making sure he completed the dunk.

By keeping it close with the Thunder, Embiid and the Sixers continue to prove they do in fact have what it takes to compete with some of the most competitive teams in the league. After all the years of suffering and rebuilding, the process is finally paying off for Philadelphia, as fans finally have a reason to be excited over their beloved team.
