Daily Fantasy Football advice for the Divisional Round Weekend
As we roll into the NFL’s Divisional Round Weekend, here’s some advice on Premium and Value picks to optimize your Daily Fantasy Football roster.
Some people consider this the best week of NFL football, with the eight best teams vying for the chance to compete in their conference championship match next week. Tension will be high and there will be some epic performances, a perfect storm for Fantasy Football. As I base my lineups on a $50,000 budget, here are a few of the premium players I like this week in Daily Fantasy Football, as well as some cheaper options.
Quarterback – Premium
- Tom Brady – $7,000 – If you are looking for a top-tier QB, why not select the GOAT? Brady is coming off a week of rest, a week of preparation, and his Patriots offense should have all its ingredients. The Titans defense is good, not great and the Pats will only go as far as TB12 takes them.
Quarterback – Value
- Marcus Mariota – $5,900 – There are very few quarterbacks that will ever be able to say that they caught their own touchdown pass, but Mariota will now be on that very short list. Mariota played well last week against the Chiefs, and while the Patriots are massive favorites, Mariota should be able to put close to 20 points this week.
Running back – Premium
- Leonard Fournette – $6,900 – Leonard Fournette had one of his best professional outings against the Steelers earlier this year, and just like the first Steelers-Jaguars game, I expect the Jags to rely heavily on there feature back. The Jags used a combination of Blake Bortles and Fournettes legs to eek out a victory against the Bills last week and we should expect the same if the Jags want to leave Pittsburgh with their second victory there this year.
Running back – Value
- Jay Ajayi – $4,600 – One of the best deals of the week, the Eagles feature back is priced just under $5,000 this week and I am all in. The Eagles and Nick Foles will rely heavily on Ajayi this week and should be one of the major keys to victory if the Eagles want to keep their season alive.
Wide Receiver – Premium
- Julio Jones – $7,900 – Julio Jones comes up against an Eagles secondary that has been up and down all season. The Falcons always rely on Jones to come up big for them and this week shouldn’t be any different. For what its worth, I prefer Jones over Antonio Brown as I would want to see how Brown looks coming off his injury.
Wide Receiver – Value
- Danny Amendola – $4,100 – Amendola has had one of his best seasons of his career this season and has become one of Tom Bradys most reliable targets. I trust Amendola the most out of Brandin Cooks, Chris Hogan, and Phillip Dorsett this week at the Pats wide receiver position.

Flex – Value
- Stefon Diggs – $6,200 – If we can all think back to Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season, then we’ll remember a Vikings-Saints game that featured Sam Bradford, Adrian Peterson and a two-touchdown, 93-yard game from Stefon Diggs. A lot has changed since then but one thing that has remained the same is that Stefon Diggs will be lined up against the Saints number two corner. I like Diggs value here versus the other pass catchers in this game.
Tight End – Premium
- Rob Gronkowski – $7,100 – The Titans don’t have one player that can cover Gronkowski come Saturday and I expect a big performance out of him. Gronk will be Brady’s top option in the passing game and should get the majority of the targets in the red-zone.
Tight End – Value
- Austin Hooper – $3,200 – I am going with Austin Hooper as my value tight end once again this week. While Hooper didn’t do much against the Rams last week, he is still a viable option in the Falcons passing attack. Hooper will be the third option for the Falcons in a game which the Eagles will try to shut down the running game and double Julio Jones, leaving Mohamed Sanu and Hooper as the forgotten play-makers.
Defense/Special Teams – Premium
- Jaguars – $3,300 – Yes, the Jags held the Buffalo Bills to three points last week and yes, they intercepted Ben Roethlisberger five times earlier in the season, but that’s enough for me. If the unit can pressure Big Ben early and often while keeping this a low-scoring game, the Jags have any chance to steal a win in Pittsburgh.
Defense/Special Teams – Value
- Eagles – $2,600 – The Eagles defense will have to be the MVP this weekend if they want to play in the NFC Championship. The Falcons offense hasn’t been as explosive as they were last season and if the Eagles have any chance winning this game they will have to create turnovers and keep it low scoring.
Below is a mock roster including premium and value picks that I’ll be riding with this week.
