Despite hanging on to the No. 1 seed in the NFC, most Philadelphia Eagles fans seem to believe the team will see an early exit in the playoffs.

Before Carson Wentz went down in December with a torn ACL, the Philadelphia Eagles seemed to be the clear favorite to represent the NFC during this year’s Super Bowl in Minnesota since the quarterback was playing at a MVP level. And while that could still very well happen with the Eagles heading into the postseason as the No. 1 seed, it appears most fans aren’t feeling too confident in their beloved team.

Losing Wentz was the worst thing that could have happened to a team like Philadelphia when considering how long it had been since this team was serious contenders in the NFC, and even though Nick Foles looked decent for the most part early on, the concerns are certainly there heading into the Divisional Round. After tossing four touchdown passes against the New York Giants in Week 15, Foles took a step back over the previous two games by only completing 23 of 49 passes for 202 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Sure, the cold weather factor could be made as a legitimate argument, but at the end of the day, Foles needed to play well in the final two games against the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys to make fans feel more confident about the Eagles in the postseason.

In fact, a recent poll on Twitter conducted by one of Philadelphia’s favorite sports reporters in John Clark shows unlike a few months ago, fans aren’t feeling too confident heading into the postseason. Take a look at the poll below, as it’s crazy to see that more than half of the fans who took part in the voting believe the Eagles will be one and done, probably based off how the team has looked over the last few weeks.

Filling in for a MVP candidate like Wentz was one of the most difficult tasks Foles had to face, and even though he didn’t look the sharpest to close out the regular season, here’s to hoping Doug Pederson focuses on his quarterback improving his game over these next two weeks to prove the doubters wrong. Otherwise, Eagles fans are only going to experience a feeling they’ve become all too familiar with over the years, which is disappointment in a talented team failing to come through when it matters the most.
