No reason for Eagles to be concerned over lack of chemistry between Foles and Jeffery
By Dan Parzych
Despite failing to connect even once in Week 16, there’s no reason for the Philadelphia Eagles or their fans to be concerned over the chemistry between Nick Foles and Alshon Jeffery.
Luckily for the Philadelphia Eagles, they happen to be one of a few playoff contenders entering Week 17 that doesn’t have to worry about their seeding getting messed up if they end up falling to the Dallas Cowboys since they already locked home-field advantage up. However, just because the Eagles were fortunate enough to earn the No. 1 seed in the NFC doesn’t mean it’s going to be a cake walk through the conference since the last few weeks have shown this is a completely different team when Carson Wentz is out of the lineup.
As bad as it sounds, replacing a MVP candidate like Wentz is basically impossible for someone like Nick Foles when looking at how the two quarterbacks compare on paper. And despite getting off on a hot note in his first start against the New York Giants after tossing four touchdown passes, the performance by Foles in the following week against the Oakland Raiders shows he has a lot to work on before the Divisional Round of the playoffs, which is why Doug Pederson is fine with him playing in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys.
In fact, one of the main reasons why there seems to be some concerns surrounding Foles this late in the season is due to the fact that he failed to connect even once with Alshon Jeffery during the team’s Week 16 meeting with the Raiders. For the most part, Jeffery has been one of the most consistent receivers in the passing game for Philadelphia, but for some reason, Foles just couldn’t get the No. 1 wideout the football when facing Oakland, after he was targeted just two times.

Once the postseason arrives, there’s no chance of the Eagles advancing if Foles fails to get Jeffery the football like Week 16 against the Raiders, and hopefully the two can use this regular-season finale against the Cowboys as a way to learn from their mistakes. Then again, let’s not forget these two happened to connect four times on 10 targets for 49 yards with a touchdown in that game against the Giants, so there’s no reason to hit the panic button on the lack of chemistry between Foles and Jeffery since everything will be just fine.
