Philadelphia athletes show off new City Edition jerseys for 76ers

This week, the Philadelphia 76ers released their new City Edition jerseys, that were inspired by the Declaration of Independence.
As the Philadelphia 76ers prepare for a tough battle on the road Thursday evening against the Portland Trail Blazers, the team’s new City Edition jerseys have been quite the popular topic of discussion this week, and rightfully so when seeing how they turned out. This season has been an up-and-down battle at times, but at least these new jerseys are just one more reason for fans to be excited about the Sixers.
Believe it or not, the Declaration of Independence inspired the new jerseys, as fans will notice the awesome “Phila” signature written in script to honor the City of Brotherly Love. Over the years, fans have been fortunate enough to experience some pretty awesome jerseys, and even though they were just released, the City Edition version seems tough to beat.
In honor of the new jerseys, Philadelphia decided to do take part in a photo shoot with Ben Simmons along with inviting numerous popular athletes with connections to the city, such as Rhys Hoskins of the Philadelphia Phillies and Nelson Agholor of the Philadelphia Eagles, to show off the new attire. Take a look at some of the athletes showing off the Sixers jerseys from Wednesday’s release, courtesy of Twitter.
As great as it is to see all of these amazing athletes with connections to the city, seeing Carlos Santana get in on the action is simply awesome since he just recently signed with the Phillies a few weeks ago after spending all of those years with the Cleveland Indians. One of the coolest things about the professional athletes in this city is they’re always going to support one another, so give Santana credit for wasting no time with supporting the Sixers.

Despite the release this week, Philadelphia actually won’t debut the uniforms until Feb. 2 when the Miami Heat come to town, which could be an entertaining game when looking at the fun rivalry between Joel Embiid and Hassan Whiteside. Coincidentally, this game happens to be a few days before this year’s Super Bowl, and if the Eagles happen to be representing the NFC in Minnesota, this could be a wild weekend overall in the City of Brotherly Love.
