With Adidas recently announcing James Harden’s new signature shoe, it’s worth wondering when Philadelphia 76ers fans will be able to buy The Process 1s.

The Philadelphia 76ersJoel Embiid is a transcendent talent.

Not only does the young 7-footer dominate in the paint at an all-star level, while also possessing the skill set of a shooting guard, he’s also one of the most entertaining players in the entire NBA both on and off the court.

Whether it be waving at Russell Westbrook, constantly hyping up the crowd to chant “Trust the Process” or his amazing off the court persona, highlighted by viral interviews, a newfound love of tennis, a budding friendship with Philly rapper Meek Mills, or his Twitter mastery, Embiid has fans around the country, if not the world.

So why doesn’t he have a signature shoe yet?

For basketball players, having a signature shoe is like a badge of honor, heald only by the best players in the league and one that can help to transcend their namesake from just a player, into a cultural touchstone.

Whether it be LeBrons, Jordans, KDs, Currys, or the new recently announced James Harden silhouette, the best players in the league have their kicks for sale at their local Foot Locker, and sometimes, nationwide.

Which brings us to the question at hand: Adidas, where’s the Joel Embiid Process 1s?

Since entering the league four short years ago, Embiid has been signed with the German-based company and has rocked the same blue and red shoes in virtually every game he’s appeared in.

While far from a ubiquitous look for non-sneaker heads, Embiid’s dominance at life both on and off the court should at least warrant a player’s exclusive design, similar to the ones given to Iman Shumpert, Marcus Smart, and Jeremy Lin in recent years.

If Embiid was to receive a signature shoe, something that seems like almost an inevitability at this point, he would be joining a respectable list of 76ers greats who achieved a similar honor, including Charles Barkley with the Nike Air Force Max CB, Allen Iverson, with both the Reebok Question and the Reebok Answer, and most recently Jrue Holiday with the Adidas Crazy 97.

With the 76ers serving as one of the leagues youngest, and most exciting teams, it’s curious why no one has decided to capitalize on the team’s young superstars.

Now granted, these conversations could very well be taking place in a boardroom as we speak, but if they aren’t they definitely should be.

With the 76ers’ having sold out their season ticket plans for the 207-2018 season, there is obviously Sixers mania bubbling up to the surface, and plenty of those fans, myself included, would love to rock a pair of Process 1s.
