Wentz provides Eagles offensive line with personalized Cowboys boots for Christmas
By Dan Parzych
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz provided his offensive line with a pretty awesome gift for Christmas.
Nobody needs to explain just how awesome of an individual Carson Wentz is when looking at how much respect he’s earned as a leader for the Philadelphia Eagles ever since he came on board as a rookie in 2017. Losing Wentz to a torn ACL a few weeks back was obviously a crushing blow to this offense, but even though he’s unable to actually play on the football field, that’s not going to stop the Eagles quarterback from being there for his teammates.
Philadelphia has been one of the biggest surprises this year, as they currently sit on top of the NFC with a 12-2 record, and it’s always going to be a debate if a healthy Wentz would have ended up taking home MVP honors when it’s all said and done. The fact that Wentz ended up with 33 touchdown passes in 13 games before going down with the injury shows why he was considered a strong favorite to win MVP at the time, and even though some believe the quarterback still has a chance with his numbers, it’s highly unlikely.
With the Eagles already securing a first-round bye while looking to clinch home-field advantage in Week 16 with a win over the Oakland Raiders, Wentz decided to reward his teammates on the offensive line with an early Christmas gift to show how appreciative he’s been throughout the 2017 season. And for those who have gotten to know Wentz pretty well over the last two years, his gift to the lineman shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.
Take a look at the gift from Wentz, courtesy of Jeff McLane from The Philadelphia Inquirer:
As shown in McLane’s photo, these are the personalized boots that Wentz gave Lane Johnson, and awesome doesn’t even begin to describe how they look. Over the years, it’s become a common tradition for most starting quarterbacks in the NFL to reward their offensive line with amazing gifts towards the end of the season as a way to say “thanks” for all of the protection throughout the regular season. And when it comes to Wentz, the second-year quarterback will most likely have plenty of gifts to hand out throughout his years in Philadelphia.

Once again, this kind gesture continues to show why Wentz is one of the most respected players in the NFL. Seeing him hand out gifts like these to some of his teammates despite the fact that he’s going to be watching from the sidelines moving forward shows how fortunate the Eagles are to have Wentz not just because of his talent, but from his kind gestures as well.
