Bad news for the Philadelphia Eagles after Carson Wentz was forced to leave Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams with a knee injury.

With Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams still in progress, the Philadelphia Eagles received some devastating news surrounding Carson Wentz after the quarterback was forced to exit the game with a knee injury. At the moment, there’s no telling how serious the knee injury is, but for a team that has been in great position to potentially earn the No. 1 seed in the NFC, this was the last thing Wentz or the Eagles wanted to see happen.

There’s no way Philadelphia would be in the current position they are if it wasn’t for Wentz playing like a MVP, as the former first-round pick has been simply phenomenal throughout his sophomore campaign with the team. After tossing four touchdown passes against the Rams before exiting the game, Wentz bumped his total up to 33 in 13 games, which nobody could have ever imagined when looking at some of the struggles he experienced as a rookie in 2016.

Give the Eagles credit for making it a priority in the offseason to build a better offense around their beloved quarterback since that was one of the main reasons why he struggled so much as a rookie, especially in the wide receiver department. As Philadelphia waits to see the seriousness of this injury, here’s to hoping the injury suffered by Wentz only ends up being minor to keep the team’s chances of making a deep run in the playoffs alive.

UPDATE: ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted the Eagles are concerned that Wentz may have torn his ACL.

Otherwise, it could be an interesting final three games for the Eagles since Nick Foles is far from the effective quarterback when compared to Wentz, and has had numerous opportunities to show off his skills over the years, only to disappoint for the most part. For a team that has been desperately waiting for a franchise quarterback to build the team around, just the thought of losing Wentz for the remainder of the year sounds horrifying, but also keep in mind nothing is known at the moment. For now, Eagles fans simply have to hope for the best when it comes to their beloved quarterback because without Wentz, who knows what to expect from this team on offense moving forward, as terrible as that sounds to say.
