Philadelphia Eagles: 3 keys to victory over Seahawks in Week 13
By Jake Starr
3. Take advantage of Seattle`s banged-up secondary
The “Legion of Boom” is not what it once was, much of that is thanks to injuries. All-Pro cornerback Sherman and Chancellor are both out for the remainder of the season, losses the Seattle defense will most certainly feel.
When the Eagles played the Seahawks last year, Wentz turned in a lackluster game at best. The rookie at the time completed just over 50 percent of his passes, threw two interceptions, and two touchdowns; with one of them coming in garbage time.
The difference between that game last year and now is vast. Wentz has taken a huge step forward this season, and the Seattle secondary is nowhere close to as scary as they were in their glory days. This will not be the 2013 Seahawks on defense come Sunday night, as Earl Thomas is the only “Legion of Boom” member suiting up for this game.
Their front seven is still pretty good, and while the Eagles running game should be fine, they will still need to pass the ball plenty if they are to have success in this game.
Wentz and the Eagles’ offense has to capitalize on Seattle`s banged=up secondary, and it would not be surprising to see Alshon Jeffery turn in another big game, not having to go against Sherman.
Zach Ertz also turned in a big game last season in Seattle, and not having to go against Chancellor will allow for the Eagles to take advantage of their star tight end.
While obviously, the Eagles will be playing in an intimidating environment, they have the talent on offense to take advantage of Seattle`s banged up secondary. On Sunday night, a big day from Wentz will be a key factor in coming out of this game with a victory.
Also, wouldn`t it be nice to see Wentz go after and have success throwing at former Eagle Byron Maxwell, who just happened to be a piece in the Eagles trading up to draft Wentz.
