Philadelphia Eagles: 3 keys to victory over the San Francisco 49ers
By Jake Starr
3. Don’t Fall into the “Trap”
As much as I hate to say it, this game sets up to be a potential trap for the Eagles. Coming off of an emotional division win on Monday night and a tough matchup the following week against a stout Denver defense, the Eagles cannot afford to look past this game.
In recent memory, there have been a handful of games that just sting to look back at as games the Eagles should have won easily. Two of the games that stand out both came against the Minnesota Vikings. In 2010 and 2013 when Matt Cassel and Joe Webb respectively somehow lit up the Eagles defenses and halted each season’s hot streak.
And Eagles simply cannot afford to let San Francisco walk into Philadelphia and stop their current win streak. This should be an opportunity for the Eagles to grow their divisional lead as Washington and Dallas face off this week and they must take advantage of that.
Coming off of a blowout loss against the Cowboys, San Francisco will at least not want to be blown out for two weeks in a row, but the Eagles must silence any of the 49ers hopes for a win early on.

It is tough to envision this Eagles team not being ready mentally going into this game. They have answered every call and responded to every challenge that has faced them thus far, and while the team’s Week 8 challenge is different, avoiding any mental lapses and “traps” will be key in this game.
The Eagles must come out aggressive like they did against Arizona in Week 5. Putting up plenty of points early and not give San Francisco any hopes of pulling out the massive upset.
