Philadelphia Eagles: 3 keys to victory over the San Francisco 49ers

As the 6-1 Philadelphia Eagles get set to host the 0-7 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field, here are three keys to an Eagles Victory.

Sitting pretty atop the NFC East and the NFC as a whole, the Philadelphia Eagles get another opportunity to build upon that lead when the San Francisco 49ers come to town in Week 8. This will be the teams first meeting since week four of 2014, a game in which the Eagles lost a close one out in Santa Clara.

But what a difference three years can make.

The 49ers were just two years removed from a Super Bowl appearance and the Jim Harbaugh led squad looked then to be primed for another run. As we all know now, that organization took a downward spiral and is now in the midst of a major rebuild.

That 2014 Eagles team was led by former Eagles and 49ers coach Chip Kelly, who now just four years and two jobs later is out of the NFL entirely. Three years and a lot of turmoil later, both teams seem headed in completely different directions.

San Francisco is now on their fourth coach in four years and is in the very beginning stages of what seems like a lengthy rebuild.  The quarterback position as a whole for the 49ers has been very inconsistent as journeyman Brian Hoyer has since been replaced by the rookie out of Iowa CJ Beathard.

The Eagles, on the other hand, seem to have found a bit more of stability. Philadelphia looks to have found their franchise quarterback and dare I say it, a very good head coach. Carson Wentz is in the middle of an MVP caliber season and will look to continue that trend this Sunday.

While the Eagles and 49ers are on opposite ends of the football spectrum, this is not a game that they should take lightly. San Francisco has a lot of close losses this season and almost pulled out a win in Washington two weeks ago.
