2018 NFL Mock Draft: Iman Marshall could be good fit for Eagles
21. New England Patriots – Sam Hubbard – Defensive End – Ohio State
The New England Patriots’ defense has been awful thus far, and it’s pretty apparent that they don’t have elite talent in their front seven. SamHubbard is a versatile end that has been coached up and should make an immediate impact wherever he is drafted. The Patriots have some decent players in their secondary, but Hubbard would make a great addition.
22. Pittsburgh Steelers – Josh Allen – Quarterback – Wyoming
Not only does Ben Roethlisberger look like he’s done, but also the quarterback is saying he might not have it anymore. The Pittsburgh Steelers love their gritty quarterbacks and Josh Allen would fit right in with Western Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh fans could quickly fall in love with another big armed, mobile quarterback.
23. Los Angeles Rams – Jaire Alexander – Cornerback – Louisville
The Los Angeles Rams have built a roster full of talent, but the cornerback position has been the soft spot this season. Trumaine Johnson might be gone after the season, leaving the Rams extremely thin at cornerback. Jaire Alexander has been injured this year, but is a talent that could start Week 1 for Los Angeles next season. The longer the Rams secondary can cover, the better season Aaron Donald and Robert Quinn can have getting to the quarterback.
24. Seattle Seahawks – Billy Price – Center/Guard – Ohio State
Does this pick even need any analysis? Another year of the Seattle Seahawks offensive line being terrible, and another year of Russell Wilson making plays all over the field. Billy Price is a versatile guard that should step in and start for the Seahawks right away.
25. Atlanta Falcons – Clelin Ferrell – Defensive End – Clemson
Vic Beasley had a terrific 2016 season, but the Atlanta Falcons should still try to build a scary front four. Clelin Ferrell is an elite talent and with Dontari Poe likely signing somewhere else in 2018 after his one-year deal is up in Atlanta, the team will be searching for another pass-rush replacement.
26. Washington Redskins – Marcus Allen – Safety – USC
The Washington Redskins’ defense has been playing really well as of late and after Jonathon Allen fell to them in the 2017 NFL Draft, the team has built a quietly above average unit. During the 2017 offseason, former first-round pick Su’a Cravens mysteriously quit the team, putting them in a tough position. Drafting Marcus Allen could fill that void and be another energetic piece to an already great defensive unit.
27. New Orleans Saints – Arden Key – Edge Rusher – LSU
Arden Key is one of the most talented prospects in this year’s draft and talent alone could land him inside the top 10, but the LSU star also comes with a bunch of off the field concerns. Key abruptly left LSU last year and although he has kept out of the news thus far this season, he hasn’t looked like his normal self in the defense. Key will be selected in the first round and it will be fun to see if he is selected in the top 10 or the end of the first round, like with the New Orleans Saints.
28. Dallas Cowboys – Ronnie Harrison – Safety – Alabama
The defense of the Dallas Cowboys has come back to life this year after a 2016 season where they played way over their head. The Cowboys need to find playmakers on the defensive side of the ball that aren’t named Sean Lee. Ronnie Harrison can bring a play style similar to Landon Collins to a secondary that has been in desperate need of an identity for years.
29. Cleveland Browns (From Houston) – Mike McGlinchey – Tackle – Notre Dame
The Cleveland Browns selected Josh Rosen as their franchise quarterback with the first overall pick and now they select their new left tackle of the future. Mike McGlinchey is an extremely clean prospect and can immediately come in to start at right tackle while being groomed by Joe Thomas to move to the left. Another year, another reset for the Browns, as it’s time to start hitting on some of these top picks.
30. Philadelphia Eagles – Iman Marshall – Cornerback – USC
The early grades on the Philadelphia Eagles 2017 NFL Draft are trending in the positive while omitting first round talent Sydney Jones out of the equation. It is clear that the secondary is the biggest hole on the Eagles’ roster and a pairing of Jones with Iman Marshall lining up at the cornerback position could turn that deficiency into a strength.
31. Carolina Panthers – Da’Ron Payne – Defensive Tackle – Alabama
The Carolina Panthers have used a bunch of early picks on the defensive front and 2018 shouldn’t be any different. Julius Peppers should be finished, Kony Ealy was traded and injuries have plagued the front four for the past two seasons. Da’Ron Payne is a monster from Alabama that should fit in perfect on that defensive line and continue to keep the Panthers’ defense among the elite.
32. Buffalo Bills (From Kansas City) – Andrew Brown – DE/DT – Virginia
Kansas City traded this pick to Buffalo for the rights to draft Patrick Mahomes and although Mahomes will be on the bench all year, I can still see the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl. Buffalo doubles down on their defensive line picks this year, after selecting Hurst earlier in the first round by selecting Andrew Brown, who checks all those boxes.
