Philadelphia 76ers: Halftime quick hits vs the Wizards
In their opening game against the Washington Wizards, the Philadelphia 76ers are winning at halftime by a score of 59-56. Here are some quick hits to watch in the second half.
Wow, what a showing by Ben Simmons in the first half for the Philadelphia 76ers.
In his first game as a pro, Simmons is already playing like a wily vet, scoring 10 points, an assist and recording five rebounds on the way to his first career double-double, and has looked incredibly impressive doing it.
Whether it be the steal he took to the house for a quick, uncontested two-point dunk, or his flawless passes to one of the open wing players, Simmons has looked incredible, and worthy of being the top overall pick.

Here are some more quick hits to keep an eye on in the second half.
Embiid minutes watch
Joel Embiid played 13 minutes in the first half and ended up with 10 points to go along with seven rebounds to show for it.
With only roughly seven minutes left on his minute’s restriction, it’s worth watching how coach Brett Brown decides to deploy his franchise player in the second half.
What’s wrong with Fultz’ shot?
Fultz has scored four points off the bench over the first four minutes of his pro career, but he just seems off.
After missing his only two free throws of the game, it’s worth watching his shot for the remainder of the game.
J.J. Reddick is a total pro
When the 76ers signed JJ Reddick to a one-year, $23 million deal in the offseason, some wondered how the 33-year old veteran would fit in with the team’s young core, but so far, he has been even better than advertised.
While serving in a veteran leadership role with fellow signee Amir Johnson, Reddick has established himself as a knockdown three-point shooter from the wing, having already scored two from downtown.
If the 76ers are going to win this game, they will need even more deep help from their resident Duke Blue Devil.
Where is Jahlil Okafor?
Okafor, assumed by many to be Philadelphia’s backup center for the game, has yet to enter the game, with Amir Johnson instead taking over the role normally filled by Richaun Holmes.

If Okafor doesn’t make an appearance in the game, the 76ers may have to get creative when Embiid isn’t on the court.
