NBA 2k18 released its All-Time teams for all 30 teams, and the Sixers look to hold one of the game’s top rosters.

The weeks leading up to 2k season is always an exciting one. With a plethora of new additions to the game, the hyped up basketball simulation will once again prevail as the world’s top NBA video game. The Sixers are set to have a fun, young roster again (with shooting this time).

But the new feature taking over the day is the addition of the All-Time teams. The game took the best players in history from each franchise and placed them into one team. The Sixers historical impact on the league benefits them in this aspect of the game.

Without looking, you can guess the obvious. Allen Iverson, Julius Erving, Wilt Chamberlain, Charles Bar- err, maybe not the last one. Charles Barkley has put a high price tag on his naming rights, restricting 2k18 from putting him in the game.

From a fan’s standpoint it’s annoying, but understandable. The game will completely leave out Barkley from the Sixers and Suns All-Time team without a generic replacement. Growing up, if you played most MLB video games, you’ll notice the omission of Barry Bonds, who was a prime player for much of the explosion of popularity in MLB video games. It was difficult not to see the one of the game’s top personalities in the game with some imaginary replacement (shout out to Wes Mailman!).

Barkley instead will just weaken the rosters of the Sixers All-Time team, which you can find below.

There are some issues I have here. Warriors Wilt Chamberlain is at a 98 overall, but Sixers Wilt is just at 93. That’s an awfully big drop for someone who won 3 MVP’s with the team. Also, Julius Erving is 97 for the Nets, and at a 94 for the Sixers. Not a terrible drop, but that puts him behind fan favorite Allen Iverson.

Iverson’s skill-sets make him clearly the best 2k player out of this group. Doesn’t hurt that the Hall of Famer was the initial cover athlete for the game. There are some other interesting teams. Joel Embiid only needed 31 games to make the all time team. Jrue Holiday‘s one All-Star appearance put him there, too.

But have to give big ups to Aaron McKie. McKie made it over Andrew Toney, which I’m sure if anybody over the age of 50 plays 2k, they’d be extremely upset by this.

This is an overall fun squad, even though three-pointers aren’t really an option here. I love the idea of Julius Erving and Andre Iguodala on the wings, with Allen Iverson and Wilt Chamberlain bossing out on offense.

Next: Kyrie to the Celtics

Of course, this team would be more formidable with Charles Barkley, but my guess is we won’t see him on these rosters any time soon. NBA 2k18 is set to release September 19th.
