The Philadelphia 76ers make it 2 wins in a row despite Markelle Fultz leaving tonight’s Summer League game against the Warriors with an ankle injury.
The Philadelphia 76ers defeat the Golden State Warriors. I plan on writing this exact same sentence in June 2018. Larry Drew II hit the game-winning shot with 8 seconds left to secure a 95-93 win over the Warriors, but what was most important is Markelle Fultz health. The number one overall pick left tonight’s game in the third quarter with what 76ers general manager Brian Colangelo saying, “the rookie was diagnosed with a sprained ankle.”
Fultz injury happened as a result on an innocent looking play running back on defense. He rolled his ankle as he attempted a chase-down block and he did not return to the game. Fultz was back starting tonight after a game off versus the Spurs and was back showing why he was the number one selection in this year’s draft.
Fultz finished with 8 points, 2 rebounds and an assist in 15 minutes of gameplay. The first reaction of watching Fultz getting carried off the court is an obvious one; a process that’s been marred in injuries. The Sixers nation reaction may be summed up in one tweet.
Oh no no no.. don't do this to us

While most of the talk will be about Fultz, the Philadelphia 76ers still pulled out a nice win versus the NBA Champs. Furkan Korkmaz continued to find his groove this Summer League as he led the Sixers in points tonight with 15. Korkmaz also had 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals to round out his night. Jonah Bolden also had himself another nice night finishing with a 11 points and 10 boards for his 1st double this summer league.
Larry Drew II provided the heroics, draining the winning shot with just 8 seconds left. The Warriors tried a game winning 3 pointer for the win to no avail as Golden State was led by Patrick McCaw dropping 25 points but it wasn’t enough leaving the Warriors 0-1.

This win gets the Philadelphia 76ers back to 2-2 in the Summer League with another game verse the Spurs on Sunday the 9th. As this will most likely have been the last time we see Fultz until the Pre-Season starts, fans will be clamoring to see more of the #1 pick on the court. Fultz flashed crazy potential and showed he will be able to score come his rookie season.
The NBA world will be waiting for word on the extent of the injury, but it is not time to over react right now. As fun as the Summer League is, it is a show case of young players skill, and we have seen it with Fultz.
