On the court, Sixers fans haven’t had much to cheer for in mid-May for some time. With the NBA Draft Lottery being held May 16, it gives the team and their fans something to get excited about.

Sixers fans have been ‘trusting the process’ for a number of years but 2017 may be the cherry on top for a team on the rise. The dream scenario for the team has a 53.1 percent chance of coming true. That is a scenario where the 76ers have two of the first seven selections in upcoming 2017 NBA draft.

The Sixers have their own selection, with a 100 percent of receiving a top seven selection in the NBA Draft Lottery. The odds of receiving the first pick -11.9 percent, second – 12.6 percent, third – 13.3 percent, fourth – 9.9 percent, fifth 35 percent, sixth – 16.1 percent and finally, seventh 1.3 percent.

For the dream scenario to come true, the ping-pong balls must bounce the incorrectly (if that is even a thing) for the Lakers to land outside the top three. The Lakers have a 46.9 percent chance to receive a top three selection. If the Lakers don’t wind up with a top three pick but still get a pick in the top six, that pick ends up with the Sixers.

More from Philadelphia 76ers

This happens due to a couple trades that happened years ago, the Lakers acquiring Steve Nash from the Phoenix Suns and the Phoenix, Milwaukee, 76ers trade involving Brandon Knight and Michael Carter-Williams.

Aside from NBA Draft lottery conspiracy theories, the NBA and Lavar Ball would love the fact the Lakers could pick inside the top three and draft Lonzo Ball. There is still a 53.1 percent chance the 76ers can rejoice with two selections in the top seven in what experts are saying is a pretty strong draft class. The 76ers could be the big winners come Tuesday night.
