With the season finally over, we will take a look at some of the youngsters that are making their way through the Philadelphia Flyers’ ranks.

Oskar Lindblom was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers with the 138th pick in the 2014 NHL draft. Going into this offseason, he may be a favorite to win a job on the Flyers’ roster.

Recently, Lindblom’s agent announced that the Swedish forward will be coming to North America for this upcoming season, but for the last four years, Lindblom has been playing in Sweden’s highest hockey league, the SHL. He did play for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for eights games at the end of last year.

Lindblom was drafted as a project and he was a 17-year-old kid playing sparingly in a men’s league. It was a low investment for the Philadelphia Flyers. Now, the Flyers are going to get a high return on their investment.

The 6ft-1 forward lead his team in scoring this past season and after playing 52 games this season, he scored 47 points with 22 goals and 25 assists.

Lindblom improved his skating and his ability to get to the dirty areas on the ice. This improvement carried his Swedish team, Brynas IF Gavle, to the SHL playoffs. Currently, Lindblom has 14 points in 15 playoff games in the SHL with 4 goals and 10 assists.

This season, Lindblom showcased his ability to put the puck in the net consistently. The best thing about Lindblom and his scoring is that he does it from the left wing. For the Philadelphia Flyers, a team log-jammed at center, a dynamic left winger is what they need.

Most analysts project Lindblom to not only make the Philadelphia Flyers but to start as a bottom six, bordering top six forward.

The youth movement is on its way folks and its coming sooner rather than later.
