Number nine: Odubel Herrera – Outfielder, Philadelphia Phillies

The man known as El Torito asserted himself as a building block for the Philadelphia Phillies future last year as he led the team in almost every offensive category. In his second season in the big leagues, Herrera took massive steps forward making his first all-star team, hopefully, the first of many, and being nominated for a gold glove in center field. The gold glove nomination is especially impressive since Herrera couldn’t cut it as a second basemen with the Rangers.

The improvement earned Herrera a five-year extension with the Phillies that includes 30 million dollars of guaranteed cash. The Phillies have shown that Hererra is part of the future and Philadelphia sports fans also have brought into the Herrera hype. Je’s the highest ranked Phillie on this list by a long shot. Let’s hope that Herrera can also be the catalyst behind a Phillies playoff run sooner rather than later.
