Philadelphia Sports: Section 215 top 25 Philadelphia athletes revealed
By Chuck Booth
Number 16: Haason Reddick – Linebacker, Temple University
I dare you to try and convince me Philadelphia isn’t a football town. You want some proof? Of this list of the top 25 Philadelphia athletes, there are just two collegiate representatives. Villanova’s Josh Hart, ranked 23rd on this list, is a national champion and was on the short list to win college basketball’s prestigious Wooden Award. Ranked seven spots high is none other than Temple’s standout linebacker and soon-to-be rookie Hasaan Reddick.
Reddick is a Camden, NJ native and was a form high school running back and safety. After joining the Temple Owls, under former coach Matt Rhule, Roddick blossomed as a defensive end. In his senior year, he led the team in sacks (10.5) and finished third in the country in tackles for loss (22.5). Since Temple’s season ended, his draft stock has risen in meteoric fashion. Following a standout performance at the Senior Bowl, his combine performance and Pro Day have the NFL buzzing with first round speculation. He may not be the national champion Josh Hart is, but football is America’s sport and Reddick is an NFL darling at present.
