Josip Radosevic (Red Bull Salzburg)

Yes, the prospect of signing anyone associated with “Red Bull” seems treasonous for Union fans. But let’s not forget our favorite son Sebastien Le Toux was acquired (again) from the Red Bulls just up the parkway, so hear me out on this boy, please.

More from Philadelphia Union

Josip Radosevic was a breakout teen acquired by Italian powerhouse Napoli back in 2012 and was regarded to be a blossoming talent at the defensive midfield position. However, he failed to make an overwhelming impression on his manager Rafa Benitez who sent him out on loan twice to his home nation of Croatia and another time to Spanish side Eibar.

Now competing in the Austrian Football Bundesliga, Radosevic has made strides in his development at Salzburg as a brooding force in front of the defense. As a consistent presence in his squad’s Europa League campaign, the 22-year old is averaging just under 4 successful tackles per game with two assists and a game-winning strike against current table leaders Schalke 04.

The young Croatian has made the most of his experimental roles around Europe and with an expiring contract this summer, the Union would be keen in adding a young talent like Radosevic to their squad. Potentially sliding him in next to another young defensive midfielder like Derrick Jones, the heart of the Philadelphia midfield could be set for years to come should Earnie Stewart make the move for the rising star in Austria.
