Sixers May Look To Delaware For Potential 10-Day Contracts
The Sixers have an open spot as 10-Day contracts become available, could they look to Delaware for some options?
The Sixers have been noted with having some of the closest ties with their D-League affiliates, the Delaware 87ers. The team recently waived shooter Hollis Thompson to open up a roster spot. With trade season’s door being kicked wide open, many have speculated that the team is preparing itself to be a part of some sort of deal.
It may very well be true, but the Sixers could also be preparing for the opening of 10-day contracts. With a plethora of talent swirling around the D-League, the team could be looking under their nose this time around.
Last season, Delaware was a bus stop for up and down forward Christian Wood. It also was the last D-League home for 10-day contract signees and now solidified NBA players Jordan McRae and Sean Kilpatrick. The Sixers have hit and miss on some signees, and this season they’ll look to capture lightning in a bottle.

Philadelphia will most likely be searching for some remediation at the guard position. The Delaware 87ers hold some options. If the team were looking for more of a true point guard, Cat Barber has been showing aggressiveness with the ball. His quickness has allowed him to flow through D-League defenses, and his ability to shoot in minimal situations is an added sweetener.
Another 87ers star the team must take a look at is Dionte Christmas. The former Temple star is finding his scoring stroke. Leading the team in minutes per game, Christmas has averaged 17.3 points per game on 45.1% shooting. His outside game has elevated his value for this Sixers team. He has made 2.5 three-pointers per game on 42.5% shooting from the outside.
Christmas is more of a scoring threat than a true guard, but if the Sixers had to decide, he’d be their choice. His scoring ability gives him more of an upside to find a role in the NBA. Christmas is 30-years old, while Barber is 22. This may play a small role, but with these two being seemingly short-term options, it shouldn’t have too much of an affect.

With these two being the main contenders to nab a spot for the Sixers from Delaware, the rest aren’t of much value to the team. The long shot is James Webb III. The forward is almost averaging a double-double, but has failed to show consistent scoring numbers at a consistent rate. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of movement the team makes with its last spot.
