2. The Emergence of Shayne Gostisbehere

It was November of 2015 when Shayne Gostisbehere made his claim to stay in the NHL for good.

The offensive puck-moving defenseman was one of the few reasons as to why the Philadelphia Flyers made the postseason last year. In a year that he probably should have won the Calder Trophy, Ghost set the NHL record for longest point streak by a rookie defenseman at 15 games.

At the time of his arrival to the big club, the Philadelphia Flyers were sputtering out of the gate. He single-handedly sparked the Philadelphia Flyers by his late-game heroics and by the threat he was on the powerplay.

Without Ghost, the playoffs were not going to happen for the Philadelphia Flyers in the 15/16 season. He took the NHL and the Philadelphia Flyers by storm last year.

Ghost gave a much maligned defensive core, a breath of fresh air with his abilities. Ghost is another example as to why fans should be excited for the future of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Here’s to Ghost having continued success in 2017.
