National League: The San Francisco Giants

Who are they: It wouldn’t be the postseason without Bruce Bochy‘s men especially in an even year. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, the Giants got hot at the right time to sneak into the postseason. If you missed their win over the New York Mets yesterday then you missed out on a baseball classic with Madison Bumgarner cementing himself as one of the greatest pitchers of all time in the playoffs.

The Giants finished the year at 87-75 in what was an underwhelming year for them but with it being the postseason all stats are out the window. No team in the field is more familiar with this territory than the San Fransico Giants and now that they’re here, anything can happen.

Why root for them: The Giants are basically the New England Patriots of baseball winning the World Series in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Winning a fourth World Series in six years would be an impressive feat and improve the Giants’ credentials as a true sports dynasty. For Philadelphia Phillies fan’s, there’s also Hunter Pence who was great in Philadelphia and also helped net Tommy Joseph for the Phils.

Can the even year streak continue?
