How many teams will the Philadelphia 76ers be better than this season?

Dave: I think the Philadelphia 76ers will be better than the Lakers, but I’m not sure who else. I’m a bit higher on Brooklyn than I probably have any right to be and I believe Philadelphia will do a lot of tinkering to make their pieces fit. With that being said, it could wind up being the most entertaining and watched 20 win team in history.

Ti: Probably just the Brooklyn Nets. I think the Los Angeles Lakers have a more balanced team, and they brought in some good (if massively overpriced) veteran pieces. The Sixers are fun, but they have huge problems in terms of being an NBA team. As previously mentioned, their spacing will be suspect. Even if Simmons is a revelation, he’ll have growing pains to deal with. The guards here aren’t going to stop anybody from scoring, and Embiid is such a massive question mark at this point it’s hard to say anything about what he’ll look like. They’ll be better, but they’re not close to good yet.

Duncan: The Sixers will be better than the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets. They also have a great deal more upside than both of those rosters and should be better than both of those teams for some time to come.

Advith: As high as I am on the Sixers’ young core, they will still lose many games this season simply due to a glut of youth. Maybe they edge out the Lakers and the Nets as far as total wins go, but that’s as far as I see. Fortunately for Philadelphia 76ers fans, that shouldn’t be discouraging because Philadelphia should be in a position to draft high again next summer and add to its already impressive young crew.

Adam: Probably only the Brooklyn Nets, especially with the long term injury to Simmons. I’ve maintained however that rebuilding teams are not defined by wins, but by personal growth and development which you can simply see by watching them play. Staying competitive, giving good teams a scare, these are the kinds of things I’ll be keeping an eye out for. The Philadelphia 76ers no longer want to be the team their opponents rest their players against. This season presents an opportunity to start doing that.

The experts have spoken, and it seems like there’s still about an even split on trading either Noel or Okafor. Everyone seems ready to jump on ship with Embiid, and they have all understood the long-term goal of the Process. The perception on the Philadelphia 76ers is starting to turn the corner, and now the team will try to do the same.
