Number 2: Ryan Howard once again blasts a 473 ft. home run against Dustin Nippert at Chase Field on June 7th, 2006.

Ryan Howard takes the distance again to right-center field, this time at the large Chase Field in Arizona. Nippert was a casualty of what will go down as one of the most historic seasons by any Philadelphia Phillies player in history.

Howard’s 2006 NL MVP award was the prime example of how power can change the game. He hit 58 home runs and 148 RBI all while batting a career-high .313 batting average. Howard’s season brought back the swagger of power in a youthful way.

Just 26-years old and he became a pitcher’s absolute nightmare. To be intentionally walked 37 times in what is considered his “sophomore” season speaks volume to the rapid rise to stardom. He was the first real power threat the team had in the era that was lead by Jimmy Rollins. He brought the fear the Philadelphia Phillies lacked in the lineup.

The importance of having such a feared hitter made it much easier for those batting in front of him, and gave RBI opportunities to those who batted after him. What was incredible about the season is the amount of power shown.

10 of those 58 home runs were marked at over 440 ft. That kind of power was unseen since Mike Schmidt. Howard is a one of a kind player who had a one of a kind season.

This speed of this one left the bat at 112.1 miles per hour, but reached a height of 108 ft., 10 ft. higher than any other home run on this list.
