AWAY vs Columbus Crew SC, 7:30 p.m. August 24th

After earning a win and 3 points, to go along with a New York Red Bull loss, the Philadelphia Union move into a tie for 2nd place. The Union will travel to Columbus for their next game, this one coming on short rest, as this Wednesday game comes just four days after their bout with Toronto FC.

Columbus Crew SC is a squad searching for answers. After finishing last year in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference and making the Finals in the MLS Cup to play Portland (2-1 defeat), this year it’s looking much different. They find themselves one point out of last place in the East. The team had some early season drama, as there were disputes in the locker room and on the field with Star Strikers Kei Kamara and Federico Higuaín. After trading away Kamara to the New England Revolution, the Crew looked like they might turn their season around. More problems arose, just a few games later Higuaín was sidelined for 7 weeks when he needed surgery for a hernia.

This will be the third and final matchup between the two teams, with the Union looking for the season sweep. The Union won both matches, one in Columbus 2-1, the second at Talen Energy Stadium 3-2. Both games saw the Philadelphia Union be the more dominant team, with the stats and score line showing exactly that.

Game Expectation’s

Look for the Union to continue their winning ways and completing the season sweep, even with their second game in four days. 2-0  Philadelphia Union win, with just their 3rd away win of the season.
Current Record: 11-8-7, 40 points.
