Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot

Best Case Scenario: Trevor Ariza

Worst Case Scenario: Damien Inglis

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot is long and quick, with great cutting ability. With the ability to develop a more consistent jump shot, Luwawu-Cabarrot could become the same X-factor Trevor Ariza was for multiple playoff teams. Luwawu-Cabarrot’s length is what made the Philadelphia 76ers take a shot and a first-round pick on him.

Luwawu-Cabarrot was the perfect “fit” pick for this team. The Philadelphia 76ers weren’t expecting to find a star, but they did come across a player that can develop into one of the best bench players and impactful wing scorers in the game.

Ariza was once one of the best two-way wings in the game. With his innate ability to steal the ball, then turn around and hit a 3-pointer on the opposite side. Ariza has also been known for his cutting ability from the wing in a half-court set. Luwawu-Cabarrot in his early games in Summer League had shown his basketball IQ with his timing on cuts, which will complement Ben Simmons greatly.

The Philadelphia 76ers have seemingly found a gem late in the draft, as a Trevor Ariza-type will help them when the team is more formidable. Now, with every draft pick there is some risk. If Luwawu-Cabarrot ends up a failed prospect, we can see a similar path to that of Damien Inglis.

Inglis spent last season bouncing up and down from the D-League with the Milwaukee Bucks. Inglis is a long, lanky outside scorer who has yet to prove himself as a mainstay NBA player. Luwawu-Cabarrot and the Philadelphia 76ers will be hoping for an outcome with much more promise.
