Joey Pelupessy – Midfielder – Hercules

Hailing from the Dutch league, Joey Pelupessy was an instrumental midfielder over the past season for his club, Hercules. He appearances all of which were starts for them over the past season and put up some good numbers. Playing as a central defensive midfielder, Pelupessy scored two goals and notched one assist but those aren’t his most impressive numbers.

Pelupessy was a top notch defensive midfielder registering 2.2 tackles and 2.7 interceptions per game. Those numbers would be welcomed in the midfield for the Philadelphia Union. Pelupessy makes plays based on his technique more often than athleticism and that’s important for a midfielder that wants to go the full 90 in each game. His mental approach to the game is calm and he stays composed in stressful situations which is impressive for a player of his age.

Pelupessy could be a good Young DP addition to the team filling an immediate need within the organization. He’s under contract until 2018 but that could easily be broken with a decent transfer fee. If the Philadelphia Union are taking the transfer window seriously, which it seems like they are, than Pelupessy is well within their reach.
