With the summer transfer window opening on July 5th, we analyze the best options available for the Philadelphia Union as active shoppers for new talent both within Major League Soccer and from around the world.

For those of you fans worried that the Philadelphia Union are comfortable with where they’re at right now, take a deep breath. While Philadelphia currently sits atop the eastern conference and have proven themselves to be true contenders for the playoffs and a run at the U.S. Open Cup, settling for less than the ultimate goal of a championship is not in this newly molded organization’s dictionary.

“We’re going to be aggressive” head coach Jim Curtin told media earlier this week regarding their participation in adding new core members to this already talented squad. “We’re in a lot of talks with a lot of different people right now. We’ll always be looking to improve our roster.” Well, who might some of those players be?

Obviously, we were given nothing to work with and will have to  wait until the market officially opens on July 1st to see who exactly will be considered good enough to wear the blue and gold of the Philadelphia Union.

Luckily, myself along with fellow Section 215 writer / co-editor Charles Booth have compiled a list of 10 players who could potentially pan out to be the next fan favorite at Talen Energy Stadium. When putting this together we took into account general salary cap space as well as positional need, years remaining on contract and skill set which could greatly benefit the core of our current squad immediately and effectively.
