Philadelphia 76ers: 2016 NBA Draft Grades And Analysis
26th Pick: Furkan Korkmaz, SG, Anadolu Efes
In what is their least versatile pick, Furkan Korkmaz provides the Philadelphia 76ers with a pure shooter. Teammate of Dario Saric, Korkmaz struggled to find minutes as an 18-year old playing on a competitive professional team.
In his 8.8 minutes per game, Korkmaz shot a low 1.4 3-pointers per game but landed 41.9% of them. This was another pick that is more on potential than anything else.
Korkmaz can become the shooter the consistent shooter the team could place around Ben Simmons, who will need all the help he could get from the outside.
Korkmaz’s role with the Philadelphia 76ers will most likely be a catch-and-shoot guard, but he must be more active off the ball than he showed in his little time with Anadolu Efes.
The Philadelphia 76ers will be hoping to develop Korkmaz into a gem.
Draft Grade: B
Although Korkmaz can potentially become the perfect complement to Ben Simmons, he will be at the least a 2-year project, as he will be a stash pick. The team preferred to take this route instead of bringing on three rookies. Demetrius Jackson was a name that many Philadelphia 76ers fans were pondering, as he would fill the need of a true point guard. Overall, not a bad selection for the team but it will take a pretty big stroke of luck for him to turn out to be a gem.
