24th Pick: Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, SG/SF, Mega Leks

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot bounced around the first-round all season, and he fell into the lap of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Luwawu-Cabarrot had an extraordinary year for Mega Leks of the Adriatic League in Serbia, where he saw an abundance of minutes as a 21-year old. The Philadelphia 76ers saw his length and defensive ability as a key strength for him to serve as a second-unit producer.

Luwawu-Cabarrot shot 37.2% from the 3-point line, which shows an improvement in his jump shot. Although it’s unfair to expect the same type of output from the outside in the NBA, it’s refreshing to know he’s not a complete liability when it comes to spacing the floor.

Head coach Brett Brown preaches pace, and the Philadelphia 76ers provided him with a versatile wing scorer that loves to push the ball in transition.

Luwawu-Cabarrot struggled with turnovers and had an awful turnover/assist ratio, which takes him out of any type of true point guard role, but it seems like the Philadelphia 76ers are focused on increasing defensive presence out on the perimeter, a facet in which they struggled immensely with.

Draft Grade: A

The Philadelphia 76ers may have maxed out the value of the 24th pick by snagging Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot. There are still many questions about his game, but the fact that Luwawu-Cabarrot has committed to playing in the NBA next season allows the team to get a quick first-hand look on how he can transition.

His energy and quickness is the perfect fit for a second unit that could look to keep the pace of the game up when being paired with fellow rookie Dario Saric.
