Top pick: John Wall

Best player: Paul George (10)

Other notables: DeMarcus Cousins (5)

Analysis

Wall has been somewhat of a curious case. He’s a very good player and has made multiple All-Star teams. But he’s also getting paid huge money, and it seems unlikely that a team could ever win a title with him as its best player. That probably limits the Wizards to the 40-50 win range that they’ve been in the past few seasons.

George hasn’t been much better, but considering he was the tenth pick, he’s probably a better value. Talent-wise, Cousins is probably at the top of this class. But clashes with coaches and other questions about his attitude have held him back.

This entire draft class is a bit underwhelming.

Philadelphia 76ers pick: Evan Turner (2)

Turner got off to a slow start, and never really recovered. He couldn’t seem to get out of Doug Collins‘ doghouse. It’s not good when a shooting guard’s greatest strength is defensive rebounding. The Sixers eventually gave up on him and traded him to the Pacers.
