Cole Hamels

Cole Hamels was the prized gem of the Phillies within the past decade. Often touted as the next great left-handed pitcher in Phillies history, Hamels managed to put himself 4th in WAR, 6th in Wins, and 3rd in strikeouts in his 9.5 seasons with the Phillies.

Hamels put himself among the best in Phillies history with an un-hittable changeup that had some of the MLB’s top hitters whiffing on numerous occasions. What puts him above Bunning and Alexander was that he was the star on a World Series-winning Phillies team.

Hamels performance in the 2008 World Series game him the World Series MVP, as the Phillies brought home just their 2nd title. Hamels pitched in 2 games while recording a 1-0 record and 2.77 ERA that allowed the Phillies to take home the trophy in 5 games over the Tampa Bay Rays.

In his last game in a Phillies uniform, Hamels was able to pitch his first career solo no-hitter (was apart of combined no-hitter September 1, 2014) before being traded to the Texas Rangers.

Hamels always had a flare for the dramatics, and his career with the Phillies will put him down as one of the best to ever take the bump.
