Grover Cleveland Alexander (Pete Alexander)

Grover Cleveland Alexander is often called one of the best pitchers to ever step foot on the mound. The Phillies got the first look at him as he took the mound for the team in 1911, and spent the next 7 seasons in Philadelphia. Alexander’s stats are phenomenal career-wise, and he ranks amongst the best in his Phillies career.

He ranks 3rd in WAR, 3rd in ERA, 3rd in Wins, and 1st in Win-Loss percentage. Alexander pitched in the heavy ball-era, but still managed to pitch 219 complete games and 61 shutouts in his time with the Phillies.

In 1938, Alexander was inducted into the 3rd class of the Hall of Fame. In 1981, he was finally inducted into the Phillies Wall of Fame. Alexander was one of the greats of his time, and he his three consecutive 30-win seasons with the Phillies puts him 4th in Phillies history.
