Week Seven: Minnesota Vikings vs Philadelphia Eagles

Sunday, October 23, 1:00 PM (FOX)

History: Vikings lead all time series 13-12-0; Last Meeting: (2013) 48-30 Vikings

For the first time in three years, the Eagles will play the defending NFC North champions, the Minnesota Vikings.

Story lines

Coming off a very successful season where the Vikings went 11-5 and captured their first division title in six years, one of the best up and coming teams will take on the Eagles, which in their own right, is a team that is searching for its own identity.

An interesting story line for this game will be the Eagles offense versus the Vikings defense. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of schemes Doug Pederson comes up with in the west coast offense against a defense that featured three defensive pro bowlers in defensive end Everson Griffin, safety Harrison Smith and line back Anthony Barr. I’m very interested to see where Vikings coach Mike Zimmer lines up Barr against the offensive line of the Eagles. My guess would be to expect the much younger and athletic Barr to attack Jason Peters.

Adrian Peterson. The man is a story line in his own right. The seven time pro bowler and former MVP, the future hall of famer is still well regarding by most as the best running back in the entire league. At 30, he ran for almost 1,500 yards and had 11 touchdowns. Be on the watch to see how Jim Schwartz game plans for AP.

Prediction: LOSS (3-3)

Even with a much improved front seven and the change to a 4-3 defense, I still find the Eagles having trouble stopping Adrian Peterson. Combine that with Minnesota’s up and coming defense and the inconsistent play of the receiving corps. on the Eagles, Minnesota wins this one and the Eagles find themselves at .500.
