Philadelphia Union: 5 Must See Games this Season
By Chuck Booth
We come to our fist rivalry game of the list, games against DC always are “grind it out” style matches and this match should be no different.
5/20 vs DC United at Talen Energy Stadium-
The Philadephia Union have an all-time record of 7-3-8 (wins-ties-losses) against DC United. While DC has generally been in a better league position than the Philadelphia Union, the Union have always played them hard and it has resulted in great soccer games (It took a late winner for DC to move past the Union last season)
DC United doesn’t have the same physicality that they had last year with the loss of midfielder Perry Kitchen but they’ve replaced that with a pure playmaker. He was replaced by Luciano Acosta who has brought a playmaking presence to the team. DC hopes to have found their Sebastian Giovinco (albeit in a smaller package if that’s possible).
The Philadelphia Union will have to play a technically sound game to get past DC United’s backline led by Bobby Boswell. The Union match up well with DC and Andre Blake will do everything in his power to keep DC off of the scoresheet. Look for more late drama in this game (do you really expect any less from the Philadelphia Union).
