This past off-season, Chip Kelly essentially seized control of the front-office of the Philadelphia Eagles, as former general manager Howie Roseman was pushed into another role and Ed Marynowitz was promoted to vice president of player personnel.

Given that the Eagles’ electric pre-season has given way to what’s been at best a mediocre season, after Kelly overhauled the roster this past off-season, a popular sentiment from fans has been to say that “Chip Kelly the general manager has doomed Chip Kelly the coach.”

The problem with that overused hot-take is not only that Kelly has only had just over half a season for a roster that he’s partially constructed to gel, but there are a handful of his moves that really have worked out and made the team better.

The point of the following countdown — which breaks down his five best moves — isn’t to necessarily defend some of Kelly’s moves that haven’t worked out, but to point out that his moves have hardly been all bad.
